nigelcave Posted 26 July , 2013 Posted 26 July , 2013 Every year the late. lamented Tony Spagnoly (anonymously, naturally) placed an In Memoriam notice for Mick Mannock in the Telegraph.
Jonathan Saunders Posted 26 July , 2013 Posted 26 July , 2013 It would have been quite an evening to bump into Jimmy McCudden and Mick Mannock when they were out together in London. Both killed 95 years ago and nearly 3 weeks apart. Rest in Peace.
Black Maria Posted 26 July , 2013 Posted 26 July , 2013 I use to live near the site of Joyce Green Aerodrome where Mick Mannock and Jimmy McCudden both flew from, it was situated on the Dartford Marshes but alas nothing now remains. As a teenager I use to walk down the old dirt track and across the fields where the Aerodrome use to be,it was quite a desolate place then, and with only the sound of the skylarks overhead it was quite poignant to imagine what it must have been like when those two Great airmen were there sixty years before. R.I.P
SilverFox100 Posted 30 July , 2013 Posted 30 July , 2013 I am sorry but a little late with this but this photo, hopefully you can read it, was taken during a recent Battlefield Tour, and is of the memorial that 'Mick' Mannock is remembered on. The tour leader told us of his story of his flying in the war and I just had to take this, such bravery. Regards. Mike
