Yorkshire Dragoon Posted 22 July , 2013 Posted 22 July , 2013 Hello all... Can anyone tell me the official/technical name for the blue-grey paint used on Great War period ammunition and storage boxes. The reason I ask is that I would like to get some paint of that shade to re cover my equipment boxes for our living history display. Thanks Tim B
Khaki Posted 22 July , 2013 Posted 22 July , 2013 Hello Suentimb, Do you mean,as in German equipment color?? khaki
GRANVILLE Posted 23 July , 2013 Posted 23 July , 2013 Page 15, post 356 of this thread, shows some ammunition boxes I made up last year. http://1914-1918.invisionzone.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=149923&st=350 The shade of grey was arrived at using some left over white, black and a hint of blue paint. I just mixed until it looked 'right' to me. David
Yorkshire Dragoon Posted 23 July , 2013 Author Posted 23 July , 2013 Hello all... Doh ! I really should have mentioned I ment British boxes... sorry
Yorkshire Dragoon Posted 23 July , 2013 Author Posted 23 July , 2013 And thank you Dave ... They look great.
T8HANTS Posted 23 July , 2013 Posted 23 July , 2013 It is possible that it is "Battleship" or Admiralty Grey, but like all things there would have been differences in shade, colour, and density, due to different manufacturers, application methods and storage. G
RobL Posted 28 July , 2013 Posted 28 July , 2013 Take your pick of grey i'd say, as Gareth posted above, with the amount of companies making them etc I doubt they'd have been rejected owing to be slightly off-shade
