Dear All

I have been asked to find out whatever I can about the above named soldier.

I am told that Pte. Ernest Shelley was GS 37333 in the Royal Fus., born about 1890 and died in 1924, possibly as a result of the injury/wounds that resulted in his discharge.

Any info. about him would be much appreciated.

At the same time, likewise anything on Reginald Davies, who it was thought was wounded on July 1st 1916 and was a London territorial. That is all I have on him.....

Thanks in advance

Ernest Shelley - death record in 1924 Rochford Essex has him as Ernest A Shelley?

There's a birth registered in West Ham, Essex in 1888 for Ernest Alfred Shelley.

Then there's Ernest / Earnest / Ernest A / Ernest Alfred Shelleys' in Essex Censuses for 1891, 1901 & 1911 so you'd need a bit more detail on his parentage to be sure you got the right one?

The death in 1924 tallies with what I have been told, as does the birth in West Ham.

Thanks, Black Sapper.

Ralph,

Reg Davies survived the war, so that rules out the first three.

I will try to find out a middle name.

Thanks for your help.

That's about all the ones I could find that may match your reference? (I didn't go look for Davis though - grin)

Perhaps something will click for you?

Edit: Beaten to it by rjaydee - drat...... but I had fun sitting here in the sun digging into records.
