Andrew Hesketh Posted 14 September , 2004 Share Posted 14 September , 2004 Came across this today. Thought it looked useful for people like me who don't know much about this organisation. Its a pdf file so you'll need Acrobat Reader to view it http://www.iwm.org.uk/upload/pdf/Info39.pdf
Duncan Posted 15 September , 2004 Share Posted 15 September , 2004 Interesting to see the Imperial war Museum get it wrong. The ‘ranks’ for QMAAC were as follows: ‘Administrator’ roughly equated to an officer, though they did not receive a King’s Commission; ‘Worker’, (abbreviated to ‘WKR’ on medals) equated to Private and ‘Forewoman’ (‘FWM’ on medals) to NCO’s. Hate to be a smart **** or anything but I keep catching them out :-)

Lindsey Posted 29 October , 2004 Share Posted 29 October , 2004 Mark I would be very interested in the article you have re the VAD. I am from a family of nurses ( I trained as a nurse, my mother and father were both nurses too ). Two of my great aunts worked as nurses in this country (England) during the war. I also have a passionate liking of the book by Vera Brittain which i read as a young girl, and it was that book that sparked my interest in reaearching the war and my families involvement, which indirectly has led me to this forum and this fantastic new discussion area. I look forward to the article. Lindsey
