Remembered Today:

'For Valour' Heroes of the Victoria Cross, 3rd Year of the War

I just had occasion to scan & send an Adobe Acrobat .pdf copy of the pages from Chapter CCXXVI, Volume 10, The Great War Magazine, covering VC's awarded in the 3rd Year of the War to a forum member & due to file size it was necessary to post it to an internet drop site called 'YouSendIt' instead of e-mailing it. (The scan is from the volumes my Dad presented to us boys 58 years ago).

Seems such a shame not to share it with others after all the effort - there's a reasonable analysis of the number of VC's awarded, regiment by regiment, plus a lot of individual profiles & newspaper type pix of a selection of our heroic Officers & Soldiers.

It will be on the following link for the next 7 days only, but you are welcome to follow it & download it should you want it for your records too.

Thank you Peter for scanning a wonderful record of the VCs. I have downloaded it.

I took this photo towards the end of last year of both double VC winners side by side. Unfortunately, because of the lights, the reflections spoil it a bit but my first attempts had their faces or parts of, obliterated by the spotlights. These are the best I could do:

Nice One! I have Corel Paintshop Pro are you using the same or similar?

The only reason I haven't played around with them myself is because I keep meaning to ask them to 'drop' the lights on my next visit so I can take a couple of decent shots. I didn't envisage posting them on the Forum but then your post arose and it seemed somehow right to put them up here after all your super scans on the VCs (hope you didn't mind). Thank you for the touch-ups.

As you might have gathered I think that Capt. Martin-Leake is a photograph of a photograph of a painting!
