Medal card help

Am I correct in assuming that this man had no medals.

It seems to be showing a roll reference just to a Victory medal, but as I understand it a Victory medal could not be awarded without the BWM too?

Thanks for any advice. BillyH.

Without seeing the rest of the card, on the face of it, he does qualify for BOTH the British War and Victory medals.

That "strikethrough" is a common version of a "ditto" mark.

The "X" signifies which of his ranks or Regiments his medals should be engraved for.

Does that make sense in context with the whole card?

Hi Kevin,

Thanks for the quick reply!

Attached is the full medal card - I didn't really want to post his name on the GWF.

You reckon the 2 medals then? Only problem I can see is that the medals were issued to 2/4th South Lancs (reserve battalion) - hang on, the LLT says they landed in Boulogne in 16.2.1917 so it will be ok.

Don't see why they weren't issued to the Loyal North Lancs number though?

BillyH. (ps : your message box is full)

The Regiment inscribed on the medals is the one he was serving with when he entered theatre. Generally the cards list Regiments in chronological order top to bottom.

Thanks to Ken + Kevin for clarifying that for me.
