MIC shows 2n Bn but MM 6/7 Bn, anyone help with which BN he was in and any help as to when it was awarded?

Charles Long's medal card shows that he started off in the 2nd Royal Scots Fusiliers, then transferred to the Scottish Rifles. Possibly he was wounded in 2nd RSF and after recovery found himself drafted into the Scottish Rifles.

If his Military Medal has 6/7th RSF on it, then that is likely to be the battalion he was serving with when he earned the medal, so perhaps wounded a second time, or transfered because he had special experience or skill needed in the 6/7th Royal Scots Fusiliers.

I have looked in the London Gazette and can't see the award of his MM, but I didn't try every search option, so have a go yourself. Once you know the date of the appearance in the gazette it may become apparent in which action he earned his MM.

Thanks again.

Kirky - not two medal cards, but rather two Charles Longs in 2nd RSF - you have the right one, and IPT the correct London Gazette entry (16695 Pte.Charles Long), and the other (18147 Pte Charles Long 2nd RSF, later 24213 Pte Charles Long Scottish Rifles) is a different chap, and a case of me muddying the waters.

Medal card tells us that he arrived on the Western Front on 9th Feb 1915 - clearly he has moved, after being wounded or whatever, to either the 6th or 7th battalions RSF prior to May 1916, or the 6/7th RSF just after.

As part of the 15th Division (45th Brigade) the 6/7th Royal Scots Fusiliers were heavily engaged on 11th-13th August 1916 on the Somme in the High Wood/Martinpuich area, which would be consistent with a mid-October mention in the London Gazette/
