Remembered Today:

Verdun

Hi all

Just wondering if anyone is aware of any documentaries that have been made and which are focussed on Verdun. For a battle which surely must rank as one of the most bloody in history there seems to be surprisingly little interest (when compared to say the Somme)

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Thanks, J

I have "Verdun visions d'histoire" a film by Leon Poirier which is in French with English subtitles - put out by La cinematique de Toulouse which is pretty good I think. It makes a lot of use of footage recreated in the 20s using veterans. Its a film rather than a documentary but is worth a watch. (I got mine from amazon)

There is also a very cheap DVD entitled "Under Siege! Verdun 1916" which I have not yet managed to see.(I think it is part of a series "Under Seige!")
