9th (Service) Battalion would be my guess, based on the date of entry on his medal card. Formed at Norwich in September 1914 as part of K3 and came under orders of 71st Brigade in 24th Division.

30 August 1915 : landed at Boulogne.

15 October 1915 : transferred with Brigade to 6th Division.

All the surviving service papers for that sequence of service numbers are 9th Bn men. He would have enlisted around 10th September 1914.

I would also hazard a guess that he transferred to the North Staffs, along with a large number of Norfolk men, possibly 28/3/1918 and possibly to 2/6th Bn, based on service papers of men with similar service numbers.

Thanks again, any reason why they transferred over?

I'm guessing it was due to the amount of amalgamation caused by the Spring Offensive. Hopefully, an expert will be able to say.
