I was fortunate to purchase a loverly photograph album compiled by this lady , i have her medal card which indicates she was awarded the 1914 star before going to Egpyt as a V A D in september 1915 i have searched all the usual places to try and find out more about her but cannot seem to find anything,

I am sure somebody with far more knowledge than me maybe be able to point me in the right direction, list of nurse etc etc

The medal card {which is hard to read}indicates she was a staff nurse and the campaign at the top of the card says BEF1914

Apologies for the wrong information about the service record. I searched from here and that was the oinly Helen Taylor in the QAIMNS.

If Helen Taylor was a VAD, she would not be a member of QAIMNS and would not therefore have a service file at The National Archives. It's also extremely unlikely (as good as impossible) that she could have received the 1914 Star.

If she was a Staff Nurse, then she might have been a member of QAIMNS, but wouldn't also be a VAD.

Is it possible that there is some confusion here between different women of the same name?

If she was a VAD she might not have served overseas at all, but should have some service details held by the British Red Cross Archives:

Sue thank you very much indeed for your reply , i assumed {wrongly} that the images were both sides of the same card doh!!!in fact she was a V A D who went to egypt in Septemeber 1915 and then to Malta her name was Helen H Taylor, i will contact the British red cross archives to see if they have further information, her medals are listed as

victory...v a d/101 b6? page 1177

british ...the same

1915 star nurses/7 page 145

I was just looking in the BRCS Register of Overseas Volunteers to see if she had an entry, and couldn't find one (there are some missing) but could she possibly be Helen Hardcastle Taylor? If so, the correct name might help any further searching.
