Officer/OR's Relationship; Rifle Brigade c. 1914

Several years ago I was reading Leadership in the Trenches: Officer-Man Relations, Morale and Discipline in The British Army in the Era of the First World War (Basingstoke: Macmillan, 2000) by Sheffield and he mentioned that the relationship in either 1/RB or 2/RB between Officer and OR's was not very good. I do not have the book presently but I was wondering if anyone can elaborate on this situation? Was this situation in only one battalion or all regular battalions of the Regiment?
