Hello,

Please forgive this (probably stupid) question, I'm sure the answer is in here somewhere.

How do I find out out whether William Laker, T/3231, 4th Bn., The Buffs (East Kent Regiment) who died on 18 August 1915 and is commemorated on the Helles Memorial, is my G.Grandfather? Is there a cross reference somewhere to find his home address or his widow's name or even his dob? Anything really which could prove or disprove?

Thank you.

Veeb

Hello Craig,

My goodness that was quick!

No, I don't know about his military service, or even if he died during the war. I can find no reference to him anywhere after it though, so that's why I was looking at this possibility. You may have already answered it though because his residence was Teynham (Nr Sittingbourne) so I don't think Canterbury would be close enough to give as his residence.

Thanks

Vee

Hi,

No, but it is his son - named after him for confusion! William senior was born in Sussex in 1859 and moved to Kent in 1885.
