little bob Posted 25 May , 2013 Share Posted 25 May , 2013 Remembering Gunner 447 William Davies 68th Siege Battery RGA Killed 25th May 1916 aged 22. Son of William and Ellen Davies of Upper Road, Thornton, Milford Haven. He had been a member of No 1 Company Pembroke RGA. William was killed in unusual circunstances, in a letter to Mrs Davies , Williams officer wrote " I am sorry to say he was killed by a stray shell. He was sitting in his room with three other gunners playing cards when a shell burst outside the window with disasterous results. One other man was wounded and the other two got off scot free."
