Remembering

Gunner 447 William Davies 68th Siege Battery RGA Killed 25th May 1916 aged 22.

Son of William and Ellen Davies of Upper Road, Thornton, Milford Haven. He had been a member of No 1 Company Pembroke RGA.

William was killed in unusual circunstances, in a letter to Mrs Davies , Williams officer wrote " I am sorry to say he was killed by a stray shell. He was sitting in his room with three other gunners playing cards when a shell burst outside the window with disasterous results. One other man was wounded and the other two got off scot free."

William is buried in Faubourg D'Amiens Cemetery, Arras.
