On 14 July 1915 the 9th Battalion DLI were in trenches near LOCRE when a defensive mine that their mining company had been working on was exploded by the Germans.

Does anyone know whereabouts this mine was ? (somewhere in sector G1)

On the Kemmel to Wijtschaete road immediately west of 'Peckham' (practically on the road junction ('Peckham Corner') with the side road that would take you past the 'Peckham' mine crater of 1917 and Spanbroekmolen cemetery).

There were quite a number of mines detonated in that area in 1915 , so, without reading it thoroughly, I couldn't really say.

Not much to go on, unfortunately.

Diary for the 6th DLI which mentions the incident.

It appears the 5th L.N.L were actually holding the line at the time so I've posted for a look up of the diary if anyone has it.
