Guest adeline60 Posted 18 May , 2013 Share Posted 18 May , 2013 Hi all.. Has anyone an interest in military tools/spanners.. I have an ever growing collection of both generic brand spanners that carry Commonwealth military markings as well as others that were made for a specific use. Of the latter, most are stamped with a description that identifies their purpose.. "Span Hyd Buff"... while others simply have a number..eg: Span No 433.!! A problem that arises is in linking each to their respective kit. Are there tool lists for Artillery and other machinery used in WW1 ? Cheers. MikeMeech Posted 21 May , 2013 Share Posted 21 May , 2013 Hi For British Army equipment of all kinds you could look up 'Army Form G 1098-33-c' - 'Mobilization Store Table for the Expeditionary Force'. It will give ALL of the equipment that a unit needed including tools for its larger items. I have looked at examples of the RFC squadrons, both 1913 and 1917, found in TNA, AIR 1/823/204/5/68, but there should be similar for other army units. The part page below is from the 1913 edition for a RFC squadron: Mike
