jackTT Posted 16 May , 2013 Share Posted 16 May , 2013 My Great grand-father Joseph Conway served in India on two occasions in the 1800s, I have his service record and this states that he married Mary Ann Dunn(or Dunne) on 28 Oct 1880, however I have been unable to find any record of the marriage. ( I am trying to find out who the Bride and Grooms parents were) ca anybody help with this or any information on his army service? Further details Joseph Conway Born Abbeyleix, Laois Ireland in April/May 1850/1. 3rd July 1869: Joined 86th Foot in Marlborough aged 18years 3 months, Army number 1665. 30 April 1870: embarked on HMS Himalaya for the Capes.South Africa. 26 Mar 1875: Service in Capes ended. 15 Sept 1875: Volunteered for 34th Regt. Sept 1875: Service in E India started 28 Oct 1880: Married in Dum Dum. Sept 1881: Son Joseph born in Dum Dum. May 1884 : Service in India ended June 1884 : Re enlisted in SWB, army number 1172. July 1888: Extended service with the SWB, colours 1st Batt. Rank Pte. 16 Oct 1888: arrived in India, Bareilly 1890 : Son William born in Allahabad, India 1893 Service in India ended and discharged from Army. 1901 census: Living in 96 Walkin Street, Kilkenny Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
