How to get the best out of archive.org

Pick a subject, for example " Infantry " (most subjects with 1914 1918 in front will find some hits)

Input infantry 1914 1918 in the search box, click on Go, or press Enter.

This page (1 of 4 will appear) URL http://archive.org/s...antry 1914 1918

Scroll through the options/pages until you find a book of interest

For example " A military forecast:the German campaign against France. " on page 3 of 4

then right click choose option " open link in new window " Left click

There are at least two types of scan/uploads on this site. If given the option, choose the bottom of the two shown, this option is searchable, the other is not. This example is obviously a different book

Optional-Copy the book title " A military forecast:the German campaign against France. " and paste (in a different window) to a new post in Virtual Library (Do this if you want the link to be the title, as opposed to the URL)

Go back to archive.org window Right click on URL in Transport bar (it will turn blue)

Select all

Right click on URL in Transport bar (it will turn blue) again,

Copy

Go back to window, New post in Virtual Library, and paste (Ctrl + V )

Optional-Use the Forum software to post the link as the title, ie " A military forecast:the German campaign against France. "

Hope this makes sense.

Thanks Keith, happy hunting.

Another tip. there are many books already in the Virtual Library. To make sure a book you have chosen, is not already there, use the Forum Advanced Search

Enter a keyword

For example " german" or " campaign "

Optional-You can also add " skipman" or other ' usual suspect ' in the " Find Author " box

Then select " Virtual Library " in the " Find a Forum " box

If the book is already there, it should show up. (This is another good reason for adding the book title somewhere in the post.)
