Remembered Today:

Captain Watson, who are you and what do you look like?

A Captain W.B. Watson MB RMAC gave evidence at the inquest into Selwyn Goldstein's suicide.

We would like to know who he was and if there is a photograph of him anywhere.

Any clues, gratefully received.

Thanks from Australia.

Googled for a photo nothing came up. Also nothing on Ancestry trees. You could try the local studies in a library where he lived, there may have been one in the local newspaper.

He appears in a group photo of "The War, Illustrated, Album-de-Luxe, Volume V, The Winter Campaign 1915-16", which is available online via the link below (it's a large pdf file, 75 MB). On book page 1720 (pdf page 306), there is a group shot of "Officers of the 24th (Service) Battalion Northumberland Fusiliers (1st Tyneside Irish)". Captain Watson is sitting on the ground on the right. Not a good quality image but maybe that's just the scan. If you could get hold of the original, you may be able to do a higher quality scan.

Nice find Martin. It's always so nice to see the faces behind the stories.
