David Seymour Posted 7 May , 2013 Share Posted 7 May , 2013 Is there an expert in The King's Own who might be able to identify "Sgt Major Pope of The King's Own" who was assisting as drill instructor at a school in Wiltshire in 1917? Grateful, as always, for any help you can give. David
BottsGreys Posted 7 May , 2013 Share Posted 7 May , 2013 looking at the MICs on Ancestry, I found a George Pope No. 5378, King's Own Royal Lancaster Regt., A/RSM, enlisted 10/05/97, discharged 06/11/19. There are some pension file pages on Ancestry for him as well. As a CSM on 1/3/16, he was ordered to serve at the Instructional Training School and then as A/RSM the Southern Command School of Instruction. South Africa Campaign 1899, 1900, 1901, & 1902. Queen's South Africa Medal with numerous clasps. Meritorious Service Medal Chris
