Caraher( Garragher CWGC) 1st Bn Royal Irish Rifles Census spelling of Carragher Rank: Rifleman Service No: 10373 Date of Death: 26/08/1917 Age: 19 Regiment/Service: Royal Irish Rifles 1st Bn. 10373 Rifleman Edward Caraher age 19 1st Bn Royal Irish Rifles date of death 26/08/1917 any one know where the Rifles were in August 1917? Jimmy Taylor Posted 31 August , 2013 Share Posted 31 August , 2013 Carragher 3/10373 Rfn Edward. Born in Co. Monaghan, 1897, the son of Owen and Margaret Carragher. Roman Catholic. The 1901 Census shows the family at Knocknacran East, Enagh, Co. Monaghan. His father was a carpenter. Children present were Michael (5), Edward (4), Patrick (2), and Thomas (1 month). By 1911 children at home were Patrick (11), Thomas (9), Annie (8), and Mary (5). Edward (14) was then a servant at Cargaghoge, Monaghan. Enlisted in 3rd RIR. Did not join the BEF prior to 1916. KIA with 1st RIR, 26.8.1917, age 19. Parents at Ardragh, Corvally, Carrickmacross, Co. Monaghan. CWGC incorrectly lists him as Caraher. Ploegsteert Memorial.
