Good Day All,

I'm trying to get any further information on Arthur or the 177th Company MGC.

Arthur died of wounds on the 1st October 1917 and after following things through on the LLT site I'm assuming he could have been wounded at Polygon Wood and died in one of the casualty clearing stations. Arthur was born in Netherfield, Nottingham and is shown as being a resident of 73, Godfrey Street, Netherfield. SDGW shows him as formerly being 54294 Notts & Derby Regt, could anybody help with when he may have enlisted and if he went overseas with the Sherwood Foresters?

Anything appreciated.

Regards.

Llew.

Many thanks for the information. The 2/4th & 2/5th Leicesters were in the same Brigade, so I'll get some idea from their Battalion diaries.

Regards.

Llew

you're probably looking towards the end of 1915 for an enlistment date with a 50,000 number (but its not an exact science and could be early 1916)

cheers

Mike
