Guest Almanza9 Posted 16 April , 2013 Share Posted 16 April , 2013 I am reliably told that the two Regiments likely to have been holding the German line on Hill 60 in June 1915 would have either have been IR105 (Saxon) or IR 143 (Alsace). I anyone has access to either regiment's history I would be very grateful if they could check for me. This request stems from a letter written by a young officer in !st Norfolks which talks about messages being thrown between the German and British trenches at that time. It would be interesting to discover who were in the trenches opposite to the Norfolks at that time.
sotonmate Posted 17 April , 2013 Share Posted 17 April , 2013 In the absence of a detailed answer here you might get the deployments of the time from the Map Folder series WO153 at the National Archives. These folders often show the detailed make-up of front line by Div/Bde/Unit. You will need to browse the NA Catalogue WO153 listings to find the right file by zone and date.
