Cameron2165 Posted 12 April , 2013 Share Posted 12 April , 2013 Hi David, There is a Medal Index Card on Ancestry for David Glassford. He was entitled to the British War Medal and Victory Medal. Your Grandfathers Service record will be held by the MOD. All other ranks medals were sent out automatically for WW1, but commissioned officers, or their next-of-kin, had to apply for theirs. garfyboy Posted 12 April , 2013 Share Posted 12 April , 2013 How sad David !! You can find a form online, at the mod website I think that next of kin can apply for medals that were not issued Andy
Kitchener's Bugle Posted 12 April , 2013 Share Posted 12 April , 2013 Hi David, medals "returned" are usually stated a such on the MIC. As has previouslybeen stated he would have been sent these as a matter of course for other ranks. For WW2 Have you applied for or do you have his Service records - as the Next of Kin you more than likely will be able to obtain these!.
