9th Bn West yorks around 30/11/1916

Hi just got a medal to a John W Slingsby of above kia 30/11/16 although I think he probably dow.

Anyone got info as to where they were on The Somme around this time as he is buried in Hamel by Beaumont Hamel?

War diary for 30th reads - 'One man of working party killed by shell' - four men were killed and four were wounded in shelling the day before.

They were at Q18A54 - Junk Trench - just on the hill above Hamel - though presumably this was the location of Battalion HQ.
