Forton Posted 8 April , 2013 Share Posted 8 April , 2013 Thanks for posting, Andrew I was intrigued by the two boys sent home under age in October 1917. DHL Button appears to be Douglas Button but his medal index card does not have the number 14741 but rather 12876 and 158894. AE Hill just doesn't appear at all with that or any other number as far as I can see. They are being sent home very late in the war as 'underage', and it is interesting that at least one does no appear to have received any medals. Is there any further light you can thrown on this from the War Diary? All best Richard
aradgick Posted 8 April , 2013 Author Share Posted 8 April , 2013 Richard, This is all I have seen, not wishing to get distracted from my researches. The diaries are online at http://qrrarchive.websds.net/menu1.aspx?li=1 if you wish to look further. Andrewr
Forton Posted 8 April , 2013 Share Posted 8 April , 2013 Hi Andrew I see that Douglas Button was born on 9 May 1901 so he was 16 (or younger) when he went overseas. I wonder how long he was over there before he was 'found'. Pte AE Hill remains a mystery. Wre any more sent home 'underage' from the battalion at this time? All best (again) Richard
