hmsk212 Posted 5 April , 2013 Share Posted 5 April , 2013 Hi, Can I please pick your collective brains re Air Ministry Mentions. What exactly was an Air Ministry Mention as opposed to a Mention in Despatches ? Apart from being annotated on the recipients Service History Sheet and I believe that some were also listed in The Times but not in the London Gazette was there any other form of recognition given to these minor awards ? centurion Posted 5 April , 2013 Share Posted 5 April , 2013 The Air Ministry used to issue bulletins and 'mentioned' men who had done note worthy things. I think this is what is referred to. AMBs are on micro fiche at Hendon I think
MarkTurner Posted 12 April , 2013 Share Posted 12 April , 2013 I believe that some were also listed in The Times Steve Yes they were listed in The Times for example August 29 1919 had both Air Ministry listing of officers and other ranks of the RAF (including personnel Women's RAF) who had been brought to the notice of the Secretary of State in respect of their valuable services rendered during the war "and a note to this effect will accordingly be made in the Offical Records" along with a listing of Civillian Staff "employed by or serving in connexion with the Air Ministry" who had also had their valuable war service "brought to the notice of the Secretary of State".
