mike050443 Posted 30 March , 2013 Share Posted 30 March , 2013 A few days ago I was asked by a friend if I would make enquiries on his behalf about his father who served with the South African Forces in Tanganyika during WW1. All I have is his name, William Victor Richardson, that he served with the South African Forces and that he survived the war. My friend does have his medals but they are currently in a framed display which he is loathe to open up. I have told him that the soldiers name, rank, number and regiment would normally be stamped on the rim of the medals. I would be grateful for any help and information about this soldier, or perhaps a pointer to where I could dig out his service history and possibly his medal index card. Many thanks in advance to the Forum fundis.
Kathie Posted 27 August , 2014 Share Posted 27 August , 2014 I have just come across this elderly post. I am going to be in Pretoria next week - and can look up the personnel card (not the whole file). My problem will be how to send to you.
