On July 16, the Diary shows that they were travelling by train and received orders to detrain at NOGENT and notes (last sentence): "... One man severely injured by accident during journey - died two days later". He is not mentioned on the 18th. I assume that William Connor is that man. Kindest Regards, Tom. Thanks a lot for the additional informations and for the documents. On 30/08/2020 at 19:53, Tom Lang said: With the help of http://www.tmapper.com/: Here is a map snippet of NOGENT... But - When I look again at the photos I posted from FMP, the statements of the Lieutenant and Corporal each refer to "H. Connor". This may be my eyes playing with me, but we are supposed to be researching William Connor. Anyone wish to chime in? Kindest Regards, Tom.

I wonder that maybe during his transfer from The Black Watch (Royal Highlanders) to the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders, it might be a clerical error during his transfer. Tom. Tom Lang Posted 2 September , 2020 Share Posted 2 September , 2020 His MIC and Service Record are available on ancestry (spit). The MIC shows his Black Watch (Royal Highlanders) number as S/11864. Tom.
Tom Lang Posted 2 September , 2020 Share Posted 2 September , 2020 A Pension record card is on Fold3 showing that his mother Mary received the sum of £-/5/-. His Soldier's Effects record shows that his outstanding pay of £4/18/9 and £3/2/2, and a War Gratuity of £12/10/- was paid to his mother. Tom.
