sajackr Posted 21 February , 2013 Share Posted 21 February , 2013 I am currently researching Pte William Henry Mead from my home town. He became a POW in October 1914 (I believe on the 24th from the WD). He died on the 27th April 1919 at Tidworth Military Hospital. I would be grateful for some guidance on: By his regimental number I believe he was a pre war regular (prior to 1904). I can not locate his service records so prior to the war diary commencing Aug 1914 where do I look? POW – LLT suggests records are very hard to find, any advice? Military hospital records, again where best to begin? Thanks in advance for any "steer" on any of these queries R'ds Sajackr

sajackr Posted 21 February , 2013 Author Share Posted 21 February , 2013 Thanks Dave, That is where I was kindly supplied the POW and Tidworth information, but was hoping to go a bit more in depth. "Wiltshiresoldiers" what an excellent and helpful website! Sent a request for information held on William Mead last night and at 08:30 this morning received an Email informing me of POW and Tidworth.
