Mags, I love the fact that you are going for, how shall we say, the lesser well known Cemeteries. All just as important though.

Having perused your list can I put my ten pence worth in please.

It's really just the fact that I drive past them and stop rather than a firm choice of choosing the lesser well known ones.

Just a quick word, if there are cemeteries that you would like to be photographed, please let me know, at the moment, it's really at random. And a comment that I would like to make, is that when you go to a cemetery, which the CWGC announces that there are about five hundred graves, and you discover that there are over six hundred unidentified stones, it is really humbling, and brings reality close to home of the real horror of the war.

Thanks Tom, that is very nice of you to say that. This really started last year. When I was younger my parents lived in Leeds. We had a sister who died there when she was about two. And when my parents died nobody really knew where or if my sister had a gravestone. Someone who is a member of a cemetery website in Yorkshire offered and found where my sister was buried, and last year my sister and myself were able to travel down to Leeds and lay flowers for her for the first time in I don't know how many years. My parents were just never able to talk about her. And although that may sound a bit "soppy", I suppose that if I can help anyone out with a photo of a stone, then I am really remembering the person that helped me refind my sister's grave. Also, this is making me visit parts of the region that were witherto unknown to me.

Unfortunately nearly all the names I have on my list are individuals at various Cemeteries, so there will be no requests for full Cemeteries from me. The only ones that I have a good handful of names at tend to be either over in Normandy or on the coastline where the field hospitals were. And I'm guessing that they are slightly out of your range at the moment!!!

When I visited Tyne Cot the enormity of the place blew me away and when I found out about the numbers of the soldiers named on the screen wall (35000+) and also the 12000 headstones, the fact that of those 12000 headstones only 3500 have names on them, that was when the reality hit me of the amount of anonymity that all the Soldiers really had when both alive and after death.

Gouy en Artois Communal Cemetery Extension, Wailly Orchard Cemetery and York Cemetery Haspres please.

I think from your earlier photographic conquests, there is only Ghissignies British Cemetery outstanding from my list.

I cant even start to imagine how many batteries you get through!

I got all excited when I saw the last Cemetery, then realised that I had got excited for nothing as I have no names there that I still need. I got confused with Etaples Military Cemetery where I have lots!

Ho hum!

But could I ask if you could send me the photos of these four soldiers please

Lance Corporal J Holland, 10th Bn. Cheshire Regiment. Plot 2. E. 17.

Private E Perry 22nd Bn. Canadian Expeditionary Force. Plot 6. C. 7.

Private D Sinizki, 52nd Bn. Canadian Expeditionary Force. Plot 6. K. 19. (spelt Sinicky on headstone)

Private M. R. Richmond, 1st/6th Gordon Highlanders. Plot 5. L. 8.

I do already have photos of these 4, but they are all low quality but I would like copies that are to your continual very high standards ........ no pressure then!!!!
