Remembered Today:

"A" Service Bn, MGC

Recommended Posts

In the Time Team dig at Belton Park, this piece of pot was unearthed showing an MGC badge and "A" Service Bn. I understood the MGC units to have been first companies and then battalions with numbers. Where does "A" Service Bn fit in?

Hello Phil

In the middle! "A" Company was expanded to form "A" Battalion which was later renumbered 1st Bn, and so on.

Thanks, Ron. The commemorative pot people must have been on the ball to supply this in the time between A Bn being formed and its conversion to 1 Bn!
