museumtom Posted 6 April , 2019 Author Share Posted 6 April , 2019 George as far as I see it is no relation. His son Charles Geoffrey Barton was killed in Ww1. It is easy to get his son (who also served as an officer in the war) Baptist Johnston Barton, mixed up with him. Married Isabella McClintock at the Parish Church, Killea, County Donegal, on 29/07/1875. Son of Baptist Johnston Barton, Green Fort, County Donegal. Brother of Katherine Sarah Barton, brother in law of Letitia McClintock. He had at least three sons, Baptist Johnston Barton, born 1876, Charles Geoffrey Barton (Killed in action as Captain of the Royal Inniskiling Fusiliers) and Gustavus Barton, born 1879, Edward H, and Ralph E, Bertram Barton. museumtom Posted 6 April , 2019 Author Share Posted 6 April , 2019 Sorry George, let me explain. The guy, i asked about, Baptist Johnston Barton, had a son of the same name, and so did his father, so there are three generations of the same family used the name Baptist Johnston Barton. There is one who died in ww2. the one I am after is his father who served in ww1 but also had military service dating way back to the late 1800's. So the lad who died in ww2 is Baptist Johnston Barton, son, of Baptist Johnston Barton, son of Baptist Johnston Barton. Easy peasy? Sorry about the confusion, as I said its complicated. Final word from terry--'Still doesn’t tell you if he was serving at death.' Kind regards. Tom. Your staying power is incredible!!
George Rayner Posted 6 April , 2019 Share Posted 6 April , 2019 (edited) Tell Terry as he didn't die until 1944 then that would be tricky And as far as I've got it BJB 3 died 1944 BJB 2 died 1914 BJB 1 died before that George Edited 6 April , 2019 by George Rayner

ss002d6252 Posted 8 April , 2019 Share Posted 8 April , 2019 So, for Crofton, it all presumably rests on whether or not he was still a serving officer at he time of death. Craig
Mark1959 Posted 8 April , 2019 Share Posted 8 April , 2019 (edited) Suspected to be in the image in this thread The Indian military record show his effects were dealt with by 2 officers of the 53 Sikhs indicates he was serving. Possibly attached to Sikhs from the R. Ir. This is the top of the list of his effects. So all his kit was disposed of. Looks like the kit of a serving officer Edited 8 April , 2019 by Mark1959
