Pension ledger cards don't show anything of particular use.

Now this is one I definitely cannot find. Can you help please? It looks like the Irish Guards and a Dublin man.

Pension Ledger has a #4417 Irish Guards discharged May 1915 and died 18 Oct 1919.

Disability was TB, Ulcer and GSW but the 'attrib/aggravated' entry has not been completed.

He's already on CWGC.

Haven't looked for any records Tom, but I think the cause of death reads "Dermatitis Enfoliativa (sic) Acuta ,14 days, Acute dilatation of the heart & Syncope , 2 hours".

I think it should be Exfoliativa rather than Enfoliata.

A nasty skin disease we would now call Erythroderma, the badly damaged skin letting in nasty infections, sometimes fatal.

On reading a bit more about it,  I see it causes oedema and heart failure, so  that all fits the picture:

Will says father Patrick, Milliner, left £52 in England-Ancestry

Dermatology's a doddle.

They invented long Latin words for conditions to impress folk and obscure the fact they couldn't actually treat any of them.

George I reckon that is your best find. Try as I might I could not find him, but I never thought that Ireland's Memorials Records would have him listed. Thanks again for a great bit of research.

 Kind regards.

 Tom.

Can't find anything on Albert Hughes, and as for VADs, I think member Jim Strawbridge might be the man to ask.
