Hi,

Searching through De Ruvigny's on Ancestry and some of the pictures are very badly reproduced. I wonder would anyone with the originals be able to scan a copy of a picture for me? If so here are his details -

Name: Eric Edge Beatty

Volume: Volume 3

Page: 20

On ancestry his picture is completely blank.

Thanks

John

Hello John

I have the reprint of De Ruvigny's and have just looked up your reference to Eric Edge Beatty and that is black/blank, as well. Perhaps the original version of the book had a clearer photograph.

Hi John,

IPT has found the photo for you, but if you would like a copy from the original? then please PM me your email and I will send you a copy. The original is quite dark as you can see but if you can put into an editor then you may be able to improve this slightly.

Hi Maricourt,

Thanks very much for looking.

IPT,

Perfect!! Great to have another source for the roll of honour and with clear pictures too

Looks like its searchable by regiment too which the Ancestry version is not.

Cheers

Robert,

PM sent. Cheers. IPT has also sent me on the picture so it will be good to see how clear I can make it. Beatty's medals were auctioned online a number of years ago, I bid on them but stood no chance as they went over €500 if I remember right. Mind you memory is not my strongest asset as demonstrated when I tried to save the first volume from IPT's link only to discover I already have it! I really need to keep better records!

Thanks gents for all your help!

John

It appears that Vol 3 is incorrectly indexed as Vol 2 -

Could I trouble someone for the picture of -

Name: John Errol Burke

Volume: Volume 2

Page: 48

again not a good image on Ancestry version.

Thanks

John

Could I trouble some one with an original of de Ruvigny for a clearer image (than provided on Ancestry) of the photo for the following entry: Norman Owen, Vol 5, p. 135.

Thanks very much.

De Ruvigny on Ancestry is now searchable by name, Regt number etc, ( I don't think it was before? ) . ....and it works.

Mike

They seem to have sorted a lot recently - has the recent surge from FMP got them worried ?.

There is obviously a problem at the moment. CWGC shows 0 war dead on 8 Sep 1914. Hopefully they will feed the mice in the morning.

A search for 1/7/16 incredibly returns only 294. This on the site

Next week - commencing 7 July - the CWGC will launch an exciting range of new digital services on this website.
These include:-
The launch of the Discover 14-18 website - to help people visit our sites and understand their history;
The launch of our First World War casualty archive documents online;
and enhancements to Search Our Records.
While the enhancements are taking place, users may experience some disruption to our normal web services, for which we apologise.
We hope that, with the changes, users will find the experience of searching through our records even more fascinating than before.
Appears they have made a dogs dinner of it already!!

Can't find him either. Suggest you start another topic in the possible non commemorations forum -
