N.A.D. brass tin, what is it for?

Hi, I bought this small brass tin at a carboot this morning and was wondering what it was for? I'd be grateful if anyone had any ideas. I thought perhaps matches, or cigarettes. When would it date to?

It has a loop at the top, and the letters N.A.D. engraved on it together with the crow's foot. What does N.A.D. refer to?

The lid pops off. The tin measures 7.5cm by about 5cm (3" by 2").

Hopefully I've posted some photos below:

Thanks for looking!

No idea about the letters, but maybe a container for specialist matches for lighting safety fuse. Last time I saw safety fuse lit, it was with a special match twice the size of a household match and burnt with a much more intense flame, possibly for that, the letters maybe a company name.

I'm sure I saw something on the forum a year or two ago with similar logo on it but a search of the forum didn't bring anything up unfortunately.

Thanks for your replies.

I just found this page in German with an almost identical tin: http://www.reenactorforum.waszmann.de/cgi-bin/yabb2/YaBB.pl?num=1347817039/2

And if it works the Google translated version:

They seem to suggest it is a container for naval gun fuses, and that N.A.D. could be Naval Armament Depot.
