squirrel Posted 13 October , 2012 Share Posted 13 October , 2012 Is anyone able to advise where the battalion was and the action (attack on Guillemont?) they were engaged in on this day please? Any information gratefully received.
Donald D Posted 13 October , 2012 Share Posted 13 October , 2012 The 6th Brigade, including the 17th Middlesex, were detailed by the 2nd Division to attack Guillemont on the 8th September 1916. If you want a good read see this: historyofsecondd01wyra.pdf (application/pdf Object) from bottom of page 287. Contains some good maps.

Steven Broomfield Posted 13 October , 2012 Share Posted 13 October , 2012 There's a very detailed account (as might be expected) in Riddoch & Kemp's history of the battalion, When the Whistle Blows. They were attacking a German defence position to the north of the village.
