sutcliffe trail Posted 7 October , 2012 Share Posted 7 October , 2012 Would anyone be able to pick out any of the cap badges in this image of 19 POWs at Minden, probably taken in late 1917 or early 1918? My grandfather (L/cpl Leonard Sutcliffe) had this postcard in a collection of several showing images of other POWs. We can't see him in this photo, as far as we can tell. There are people out there, I know, who can recognise the badges from the smallest clues and I would be very interested to know more about this group. I have also posted this image in the POW Forum along with some others of individuals and pairs of men in the hope that someone might be recognised. widavies Posted 7 October , 2012 Share Posted 7 October , 2012 I think on the back row, second left looks like Essex Rgt, no 4 looks like Royal Artillery and no 5 Hampshire Rgt. Middle row last on right looks like HLI. Will
Guest Posted 8 October , 2012 Share Posted 8 October , 2012 Here are my 'uneducated' guesses, for what they're worth. Back row L-R. No 1 A & SH without kilt? No 2 RE, No 3 Cameronian? No 4 Artillery, No 5 RE, No 6 Fusilier, No 7 ?, No 8 Artillery, No 9 ?, No 10 Artillery, No 11 ? Middle Row L-R No 1 Artillery, No 2 ?, No 3 ?. No 4 ?, No 5 Fusilier Front Row L-R No 1 RE, No 2 ?, No 3 RE Mike
gordon92 Posted 8 October , 2012 Share Posted 8 October , 2012 The man in back row standing on left looks more like a Gordon Highlander in a borrowed pair of dress trousers.

gordon92 Posted 8 October , 2012 Share Posted 8 October , 2012 Center row, 2nd from left is probably a Cameron Highlander.
