Regulus 1 Posted 7 October , 2012 Share Posted 7 October , 2012 Gentlemen, Stefan Kirmaier is supposed to have had his first victory with KEK Jametz on the 2nd of July 1916 over Bapaume. However the distance between Jametz and Bapaume is much to big to say that he was serving at Jametz at the time. Or flying from this aerodrome, which I visited two weeks ago. So at least for this victory, Kirmaier must have been stationed somewhere else, in the area of Lille or most likely Duoai. Any ideas on this matter ? toofatfortakeoff Posted 20 October , 2012 Share Posted 20 October , 2012 Seconded to obviously another unit or a typo? Kirmaier was with FA A 203 prior to joining KEK. However that's no good for you either because that was a Verdun unit. The kill is confirmed more or less as a BE2C reg number 2654 fast fwd to this link hope this helps It looks like one of those mysteries where the tow who were killed in the BE were from different units! Sivry to Bapaume is about 126 km. He'd be a long way from home. Depending on the aircraft max 2.5/3 hours suppose it is vaguely possible. Could have landed at a forward refuelling dump if there was such a thing. They existed in England for Zeppelin hunting crews.
