English language guides and maps to the Vosges are hard to find. It has recently been reported that Yorkshire WFA have had digitally reprinted all copies of 'Gunfire', for many years their branch magazine and originally edited by Dr. Alf Peacock. Alf was regular visitor to the Vosges and he published his findings and accompanying maps in the early editions of 'Gunfire'. These are the best (only?) English-language guides to these battlefields. I have used them a great deal and benefitted from them. Here, too, you will also find guides to Verdun and its back areas.

Just to note that Gunfire has indeed been digitised and is now available to all WFA members via their website.
