bickerton16/625 Posted 3 October , 2012 Share Posted 3 October , 2012 Folks, Some years ago, my father in law "found" a considerable number of glass magic lantern slides in an unofficial local dump in the wilds of rural Northumberland. Sadly, the local kids had got there first and the vast majority were smashed to bits but he did manage to salvage one or two and had them photographed some time after and then promptly forgot all about them. I had been telling him about the wealth of information that I had uncovered as a member of GWF which brought the old slides back to mind - he still has them and it would be very interesting to know if anyone out there can tell us anything about the ships and submarines in the attached pictures. Sadly, they are not terribly good quality but I live in hope that there is something of interest for someone out there. if only he had got to the dump a couple of days earlier........... All the best Duncan http://i1281.photobucket.com/albums/a501/riverman2767/SubmarineMagicLanternSlide2jpeg_ http://i1281.photobucket.com/albums/a501/riverman2767/NavyMagicLanternSlide3jpegjpeg_zpsdacc00d2.jpg http://i1281.photobucket.com/albums/a501/riverman2767/NavyMagicLanternSlide2jpeg_zpsb2cca345.jpg http://i1281.photobucket.com/albums/a501/riverman2767/NavyMagicLanternSlide1_zpscf798079.jpg http://i1281.photobucket.com/albums/a501/riverman2767/KingGeorgeV_zpsb8c5e285.jpg http://i1281.photobucket.com/albums/a501/riverman2767/SubmarineMagicLanternSlide1_zpsfd4234e5.jpg
centurion Posted 3 October , 2012 Share Posted 3 October , 2012 The first does not open. Photo 2 looks familiar .The last appears to be of a German U boat. One photo appears to have been taken from an airship. Photos of the German fleet surrendering?
simonharley Posted 3 October , 2012 Share Posted 3 October , 2012 345 is presumably von Meurer going aboard "Queen Elizabeth" in 1918. One can recognise Commodore The Hon. Hubert Brand, Captain of the Fleet, standing with his sword and Captain Ernle Chatfield to his left. Simon
