De Jagers Scouts

Hello everyone,

I'm trying to find out about a chap named Alexander H. Mc Callum, who served in De Jagers Scouts during WW1. Although previously having the rank of Lieutenant in the South African Horse in 1915, he subsequently shows as "scout" when in De Jagers unit and appears to later revert to Warrant Officer Class 1 when attached to East African Intelligence Dept. An interesting career but I am very keen to get a potted history of the Scouts and their exploits in German East Africa, where I understand this chap served.

Any help greatly appreciated.
