kawasaki Posted 29 September , 2012 Share Posted 29 September , 2012 Can somebody offer some assistance with my great uncle who survived the first world war. According to his medal record he was a Captain and saw service in Mesopotamia in September 1916. Can I find out more about his service in the 7th North Staffordshire Reginent. I also have 2 commendations for service signed by Winston Churchill. Can somebody offer some assistance with my great uncle who survived the first world war. kloughnane Posted 29 September , 2012 Share Posted 29 September , 2012 Mike, The battalion war diary for the 7th North Staffords is available at The National Archives, Kew. Reference: WO 95/5158. This details their activities in Mesopotamia. Additionally the history of the battalion was written post war by L.R. Missen, MC who was at one time the adjutant. You may still be able to find a copy of this book (on CD) on the internet. I hope that this helps. Regards, Kev Loughnane
