Hi David,

Sec Lt H.A.S.Gaffyne was commissioned into the 4th (T) Dorset Regt on 27/2/18 and is shown as employed under the Air Ministry in the Feb 1919 Army List.

I cannot immediately find an officer by the name of Horne with the single initial 'T', does he have a second initial?

Robert

Hi Lyn.

The only chap i could find is one T. Horn. London Gazette link;

http://www.london-gazette.co.uk/issues/29722/supplements/8388

Horn, along with Cantell, Appelbee, Glenn to name but a few, joined the ranks of the 15th (Service) Battalion, West Yorkshire Regiment on the 16th July 1916 to replace the officer casualties sustained on the 1st July.

I've checked what Army Lists i have and this was the only chap who looks anywhere near a possible candidate.

If it is him, nice find.

Best wishes.

Chris.

Evening Lyn.

Name escapes me at present but after surviving the actions at Gavrelle in May 1917, he then has a period of leave.

Horn is posted to XIIIth Corps Training Depot located at Pernes after his return to the Western Front, August 1917.

12th October (War Diary) promoted to the rank of Lieutenant along with Haywood, Glynne and Reed (Bernard, as there are two officers of this name who serve with the battalion).

Rejoined battalion, 5th December 1917 and in January 1918 assumes command of "B" Company.

Then, as regards the War Diary, his path is not clear. Just wondering if he was wounded in the actions at Moyenneville, or, even if he returned to the battalion from a period of leave in January 1918.

Best wishes.

Chris.
