derekspiers Posted 18 September , 2012 Share Posted 18 September , 2012 The 1918 diary of an RFC signaller attached to 95th SB RGA notes the following - "April 15th - We were dug in one mile from Bayencourt near a crossroads and a railway line on which a 9.2" (howitzer) was brought up each day." "April 27th - We now have 4 x 9.2 now at the crossroads.( from 95th SB) A railway runs across the road along which an ROD engine brings a 9,2 Naval Gun and our ammunition" Does anyone know the line the railway line took in 1918? Assume it was removed post war? If so this will help me locate this gun position on a modern map. Thanks

derekspiers Posted 19 September , 2012 Author Share Posted 19 September , 2012 Thanks Paul for the response. Is that from the 90 Brigade War diary? Is it possible you could express that position in another format? ie Lat/Long

I can now locate the battery position and after a good look on Street View I beleive this is the location where the IWM photo of 95th SB was taken on Aug 8th 1918.
