Terry Posted 18 September , 2012 Share Posted 18 September , 2012 I recently spotted a Military Medal and pair to a member of 1-21 London Regt. on ebay, and noted that his MM was in the London Gazette of 13 March,1918. I understand that the 47th Division was involved in the fighting at Passchendaele in the autumn of 1917, and wonder if the 13 March,1918 gazette date would possibly be for that action? I would guess that the time lapse would be about right. Are there any 21st London specialists out there? By the way, the fellow's name was 3720 (later 651361) Sgt.Alf R.Fitzgerald. Cheers, Terry
Terry Posted 19 September , 2012 Author Share Posted 19 September , 2012 Apparently the 13 March,1918 gazette was primarily for the operations at Cambrai, not Passchendaele. So it looks like Cpl.Fitzgerald's MM was for Bourlon Wood or some of the other engagements in which the 21st Londons participated in November-December,1917.
