Hi, please can any one help, ? does anyone know if badges were awarded to nurse working in:

3rd london territorial hospital (as a territorial force matron)

and also

Nottingham (bagthorpe) Military hospital (again as a territorial force matron?

Would they have been awarded to any one?, or just VAD's?

thanks for any help.

Here is a photograph of the Territorial Force Nursing Service badge being worn.

Also note the small ' T ' insignia on each corner of her shoulder cape.

Attached is a nice photograph clearly showing the difference in uniform between the QAIMNS ( on the left of photograph ), and the QAIMNS Reserve ( on the right of the photograph ). We can also see the QAIMNS badge being worn by the Matron on the left.

VAD's ( Voluntary Aid Detachments ) were not the same as the QAIMNS, QAIMNSR, or the TFNS.

VADs were those who provided general voluntary assistance/work duties in the hospitals.

Attached are photographs of young female and male VADs in uniform.

Mary,

From the details you have provided, your nurse was probably serving in the Territorial Force Nursing Service, the badge for which is shown in post # 2 and their uniform is shown in post # 4.

Regards,

LF
