Digger Posted 16 September , 2012 Share Posted 16 September , 2012 I would be very grateful if someone can decipher the name of the ship Roy Story returned from Egypt to Australia in 1919. I have searched various combinations of the letters that appear to be written, to no avail. The ship arrived back on the 23rd August, 1919. Thank you. gilly100 Posted 16 September , 2012 Share Posted 16 September , 2012 HI Digger I think it is the DUNLUCE CASTLE as I have seen this ship come up before. Cheers Ian Gill
Jeff Pickerd Posted 16 September , 2012 Share Posted 16 September , 2012 Hi Digger, Ian is correct, it was the 'Dunluce Castle'. Departed Suez 17/7/1919, also carrying a number of 8th Light Horsemen for return to Australia. The 23rd Sept sounds like an arrival date for South Australia, have other arrival date of 26th Sept, possibly Melbourne. She was also in use as a hospital ship during the Gallipoli campaign, mostly transferring wounded and sick to Malta and Alexandria from May onwards.
