Stebie9173 Posted 7 September , 2012 Share Posted 7 September , 2012 Just seen reference to this new free website in a family history magazine. http://www.bureauofmilitaryhistory.ie/index.html It has been noted as a joint venture between archives and has scans of eye-witness statements, etc. Not being an Ireland researcher I don't know how much of this is new to people, so I will let better qualified people comment. However, as a test I searched for Northamptons officer Lt. Col. Beattie and found a pdf report of his death. http://www.bureauofmilitaryhistory.ie/reels/bmh/BMH.WS1454.pdf#page=39 Steve. archangel9 Posted 8 September , 2012 Share Posted 8 September , 2012 A brief look this morning and this will be a very valuable resource. Quick searches have found interviews with participants in the Connaught Rangers mutiny in India, a 60 page statement by Michael Kehoe member of the Irish Brigade, witness statements by members of 'The Squad', ................ I may be gone for some time.
Steven Broomfield Posted 8 September , 2012 Share Posted 8 September , 2012 Thanks - I am currently reading Townshend's book on the Easter rebellion, and the BMH gets quite a few mentions.
