stevew Posted 18 August , 2004 Share Posted 18 August , 2004 I may have missed a post about this but.............. Does anyone know why the tower at the Villers-Bret memorial is closed??
Terry Denham Posted 18 August , 2004 Share Posted 18 August , 2004 When I visited about four months ago, I was told that it had been closed for safety reasons - not that it was unsafe in itself but that it was too easy for people to fall/jump off. Paul Reed Posted 18 August , 2004 Share Posted 18 August , 2004 I am pretty sure it is still open at weekends, and on certain 'special' days , such as ANZAC day. However, there is a forum member who lives in Le Hamel who may know differently.

stevew Posted 20 August , 2004 Author Share Posted 20 August , 2004 I was there at the start of July, the closed status looked pretty permanent to me!!!
Nicolas G. Posted 20 August , 2004 Share Posted 20 August , 2004 I should check soon but it seems the tower is closed since a while. And "safety reasons" seems strange as there was always the same risks. Last year and before, one have to ask the key at the gendarmerie.
