Regimental history (Ponsonby), I'd say. Three volumes, available as a Naval & Military reprint. Very good.

Thanks Steven, any other books with walks involved of the area?

Do not forget Ray Westlake's British Battalions on the Somme. This provides a compressed version of dates and places for all four battalions in two pages. You can then choose your walks. It is worth rememberering that none of them arrived in the area before the end of July 1916, so you will be looking at the later battles.
